Lochinvar learning

Our Commitments

We are committed to growing knowledge

Lochinvar Learning acknowledges the Wonnarua people as the traditional owners of the land which Lochinvar Learning sits upon. As a service we seek to understand and include the values, cultural histories, heritages and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Our vision is to create a service where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders feel safe, accepted and celebrated.

We recognise the important and valuable role that children play in our country’s current and future journey towards reconciliation and championing the rights and equity of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.

Our educators seek to authentically embed and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and values within our play and learning spaces. The cultural competency within our team will be built upon and invested in.

We recognise the importance of trusting, reciprocal relationships with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and will seek their advice and involvement within our service.

Sustainability

We believe in respecting the environment by embedding sustainable practices that support children to understand that they are a part of nature and all its wonder. There is an abundance of natural components in our environment, particularly in the outdoors. This lends itself to meaningful discussions between our educators and learners, both through intentional teaching practices and spontaneously, taking responsibility for the environment both living and constructed. We have a dedicated team member who undertakes sustainable initiatives at the service.

Child advocacy and safety

We are committed to implementing the Child Safe Standards and continually aim to reflect on and improve our practices to better support our most vulnerable. All team members complete “In Safe Hands” training annually.

When obtaining and storing images of children we are committed to taking measures to ensure the privacy and security of all children.

Being Outside with Nature

An important part of childhood is being outside in nature.

At Lochinvar Learning, we believe childhood is precious. We acknowledge that an important part of early childhood is being outside in nature. We know that children are natural learners who embrace every opportunity to explore. We recognise that children need more unstructured time outside and this knowledge is supported by research. We have a unique indoor/outdoor program which forms a special part of our learners complete early learning experience. Our outdoor spaces provide uninterrupted time in a rich natural environment that is ideal for children.
